Marco Polo Interpretation Center
Of all the great explorers whose names light the fires of our imagination and whose exploits
line the shelves of our libraries and museums, one name above all others leaps from the
pages of history. A name which, once breathes, conjures up a swirling mist of romantic
visions of men and horses, of mountains and vast empty spaces reaching to the ends of the
earth, of the mysterious East, opulent with the treasures of the Orient and ruled by a
legendary Khan enthroned in splendour within his stately pleasure dome at fabled Xanadu.
That name is Marco Polo.
